At RSVP, we love sharing stories like these. Real stories from real people who took a chance, stayed open, and found something meaningful.

Andrea wrote to us with a simple message:

“Yes, it can work.”

‘Eighteen years ago, Peter lived in Avalon and I lived in Newcastle, teaching full time.

I had never wanted to actually live with a new partner, and I thought the distance between us would be perfect.

On 15.2.2008, I came home after my day at school. I’d been walking and swimming at the Newcastle Ocean Baths, and eventually I checked RSVP.

There he was.

Peter.

So cute, I thought.

Not only was I attracted to his looks, but also to his words about his late wife, “my angel.” That tenderness meant something to me.

We spoke on the phone for 45 minutes the next day. He visited me the following weekend.

And here we are.

We had both lived full lives before we met. We were very open about our pasts and could tell each other funny stories. There was honesty from the beginning.

We have a lot in common, and some things we don’t, but overall we laugh, live and love.

Peter still lives in Avalon. I have since moved to Sydney, my favourite city. We travel back and forth between our homes and are constantly planning movies, journeys, swimming, walking, whatever comes next.

We are life partners. Committed.

Together, and apart.

It works for us.

So.

Don’t give up.

Enjoy your searching and finding.

I met this amazing woman on RSVP that happen to be a #1 in the top 100 the week we met. The story goes…

Wedding to come!

We met in April/May of 2013 and have been inseparable since. I’m happy to revisit and share a wedding pic later for success stories.
